Adding music to poetry is a very interesting concept: How to present the poem in a musical style that captures the essence of the poem itself?
One of my friend Riina's poems, "LYRANS: Aeons of Knowledge and Magic", from her book of poetry, Spirit Verses, is about the spiritual nature and beingness of cats and what we can learn from them.
One of the poem's lines suggested the title, "The Heart of a Cat".
A barbershop quartet was a perfect choice for this poem, as the singing is playful in itself...just like a cat.
Lyrics:
Like cat’s whiskers
You are becoming
More sensitive
To the changes
The way they stretch
Their body
Your vessel is
Getting more flexible
Like they roam in nature
You feel at home
There too
The heart of a cat
Is a mystery
Just like yours
It holds eons of
Knowledge and magic
It dreams of
Faraway places
And new
Adventures
Cats will show
You the way to
New Earth
