Song Backstory:
I composed this in early December 2015, in Wellington, New Zealand.
The memory:
I was about 8 or 9 years old, and my Mom took me to a lady's house near the Fairfax district in Los Angeles. It was an old, two-story house. She was a concert cellist, and they knew each other from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Canada. She was a guest cellist for the Los Angeles Philharmonic and worked with Zubin Mehta, the conductor, whom my Mom also knew well.
I stayed there for an hour as my Mom was at an appointment.

I played a song I had composed for the lady on her piano, and she took out her cello and started accompanying me. We improvised for a long time. The early 70s were a surreal time for me.
I really love the sound of the cello...
