In the mid-80s, I was the General Manager of a very well-known Hollywood music store. Music celebrities would often come in and try out new equipment. [Slash got his start there...but I won't name drop.]
I had just received a Yamaha TX816 synthesizer rack unit. That is the equivalent of eight DX-7 keyboards (without the keyboards). It had this one really amazing bass sound, which you could sync using ALL eight modules together for an unreal sound.
I created a funk baseline to explore the unit's capabilities.
A guy came into the keyboard room in search of the amazing funk bass he had been hearing.
He plugged his guitar in, and we traded riffs for about 20 minutes amid a growing crowd of people standing around, tapping their feet and nodding their heads in unison.
This reimagination is for all those who were there on that day.
